Not loving the look of your old brow tattoo? You’re not alone. Many clients come to JT Artistry after having an eyebrow tattoo elsewhere that’s faded to an unnatural colour — like grey, red, green, purple or blue.
The good news? We can help fix them using saline removal, colour correction, or a referral for laser tattoo removal.
Why Do Old Brows Change Colour?
Over time, old brow tattoos may fade unevenly or shift in colour. This can be caused by:
• Low-quality or incorrect pigments
• Tattooing too deeply or too shallow
• UV sun exposure
• Skin type, lifestyle, or use of skincare products
Common Colours We See (And What They Mean):
• Red or orange: Often caused by older iron oxide pigments
• Blue or grey: Common with deeper pigment saturation or oily skin
• Green or purple: Result of poor pigment selection or incorrect layering
How We Fix Discoloured Brows
1. Saline Tattoo Removal
This gentle, non-laser option uses a saline-based solution to lift pigment out of the skin. It’s ideal for:
• Mild to moderate pigment
• Recent cosmetic tattoos
• Those preferring a more natural removal method
2. Laser Tattoo Removal
For deeper or darker pigments (especially blue/green tones), we may recommend a trusted laser technician we work closely with in Brisbane. Laser breaks the pigment down so the body can flush it out.

3. Colour Correction
If removal isn’t necessary, we can colour correct the existing tattoo. This involves using special neutralising pigments to balance out unwanted tones before re-shaping and refining your brows.
Example:
• Red brows? Corrected with olive/green pigments
• Grey/blue brows? Corrected with warm tones like peach or orange
Once corrected, we can move forward with a new shape and shade using the Nano or Powder Brow technique.
